happiest new year!

as this year draws to a close, so too are things wrapping up in this little space.

after much thought and for many different reasons, this is accidental betty's final post.

for me, 2010 has been a year full of great change, loss and transition - punctuated, of course, with many moments of growth and joy. 2011 promises much of the same, for isn't life like that final line from annie hall? it's like a shark; it has to constantly move forward or it dies!

we're off to ring in the new year with friends in a snowy wonderland...

i wish you much peace and joy in the coming year and, indeed, in all the days to come.

fun with fungus

mike's co-worker gifted us this amazing pine mushroom from her farm.

+ butter, garlic, wine, cream and pasta = yum!

paid us a visit overnight.

we've been blessed with such a glorious fall. i'm afraid i'm not at all ready for winter.

we had a fun day up at our friends' cat-ski lodge over the weekend, despite a few worries that our mini-van wouldn't make it up the road.

they're gearing up for winter up there...the farmer's almanac says it's going to be a snowy one!

for grandpa ross

my circle of girlfriends from vancouver island most thoughtfully and generously sent me a gift certificate for our local nursery after my dad died.

as mike said, there's only tree we could possibly choose to honour grandpa ross: a japanese maple. 

it's just little now, but already i love seeing it through the kitchen window. i look forward to it bringing restful shade and glorious colour to our backyard for years to come.
